A Break From The Boilers

Oil on Canvas 9 in x 12 in / 23 cm x 30.5 cm

I’d wanted to paint a picture with frogs playing a game. I had considered the Japanese games of Go and Shogi but they were a bit ‘busy’ so I opted for cards. The background was influenced by some of the wonderful industrial machinery the Victorians built for their factories and bridges and railways. The large tanks and pistons and feeding pipes, etc. were compiled from photos I took of the workings of Tower Bridge, London.
