Ghost Monkeys

This was my first Japanese fantasy painting set in the forgotten woods at the base of a hill which leads up to a monastery. If you visit such deserted spots with their deserted graveyards, it is easy to imagine the ghosts of the past creeping in and playing (or squabbling) as dusk falls gives way to the grey-blue shadows of the night.
